The Gallant
Atop a horse, looking so much a knight
A Sword of an Angel
Eyes as cold as the night
Arms outstretched, extended for me
As warm as the sunlight, his heart must also be.
Led me to the sea, to the vast nothingness
“All the beauty in the world, you need to see.
Just head in the water, your safety let me be”
And so I did, saw the beauty I’ve never seen before,
Deep underwater, a whole new world unfolds
Regaled in it’s clarity, the vibrance and colors,
My cavalier’s with me, I surely must explore!
Then appeared a Peitho, a real temptress,
A goddess of the craft, he got so obsessed.
She reeled him in while I was there mindless,
Oblivious of the things, lost in the vastness.
He brought to me the sea and yet one thing he didn’t do
He taught me to traverse, said he’d be there, too
When the waves came crashing, nothing to hold on to.
Why am I drowning alone in this deep blue?
Oh yeah, he’s no Sancus but Dolos a-shining
Of all the things he’d teach, why not about surviving?
Led me to the ocean, sweet and promising,
but then he took her hand, and left me sinking.
Oh believe me, the warmest of the hands,
Often possesses the iciest of hearts,
While with the coldest, most nervous palms,
Are the fondest and the most tender kind!
